This exercise is a simple way of learning how move your spine when cutting directions or stopping movement, so it will also teach you how to integrate the core muscles with the posterior chain and leg muscles. We are going to use a unilateral stance and the base move will be a Paraball backhand swing.
Starting from a unilateral stance most of the weight will be on the front leg and the back heel will be lifted from the ground. We are going to take a lateral step, using the leg that is behind. It is ok if our foot points slightly out while landing, since our weight is being transferred laterally and our ankle has more degrees of motion in dorsi and plantar flexion than supination.
